It's preposterous! |
Apparently, Pulse using the New York Times' RSS feeds (which are made available for this purchase) is a bad thing. No blame can be put on the NYT, of course, for making these feeds free in the first place.
The NYT doesn't seem to realize how the internet works. First of all, Pulse drives traffic to websites, meaning more pageviews and a wider readership than otherwise. This is a good thing. Secondly, they claim that because it's a paid product that features the NYT's feed in screenshots, they're making money from the NYT's content unfairly. You know what else features the NYT in screenshots and is a paid product? The iPhone and the iPad. Worst of all, Pulse was apparently removed from the iTunes store last night, only a few hours after Steve Jobs mentioned it in his keynote address. One can only hope that its removal generates even more publicity, because this is the best RSS reader out there, bar none.Watch the intro video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxM8UrWIxK0
